Yoga Workshop with Dr Kumar at Theatr Clwyd, Mold

Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th June

Course Outline

Awaken yourself to Yoga with the phenomenal teachings of Dr Kumar.

Are you prepared to shift your perspective to deepen your practice and enhance your personal journey? If so, you will leave this course inspired and with renewed zeal for life and yoga.

This two-day course will surprise, entertain, inform and energise you. Relax into the guidance of this inspirational teacher and enjoy the distillation of a lifetime’s study and exploratory practice.

Dr Kumar has studied in 86 schools of yoga with teachers including Krishnamacharya, BKS Iyengar and Swami Vishnudevananda. He uses this knowledge and his experience as an award-winning scientist to bring fresh perspectives to yoga, which he rigorously tests on himself before sharing with his students.

His teaching is deeply rooted in the purity of authentic traditions and he emphasises the importance of valuing and upholding the pure science of yoga maintained by these ancient lineages.

Expect fascinating and humorous stories and anecdotes to bring home the teachings and lots of experiential asana, pranayama and meditation practice too. Dr Kumar’s teaching is spontaneous and boundless. Prepare to be absorbed, surprised and enriched by the experience.

The course will cover a range of topics that reflect the full spectrum of Yoga, from asana, yoga therapy, pranayama, meditation, general health to dietary advice and nutrition. The underlying question being addressed throughout the course is, ‘how does one live in the wisdom of yoga, in today’s world?’

The workshop was everything I hoped for and more, Dr Kumar has such a huge depth of knowledge and experience I would highly recommend anyone on their Yogic journey to attend  his lectures/workshops or retreats as they will not find such profound knowledge anywhere else.”Joan Keig, yoga teacher

About Dr Kumar

Dr Kumar’s synergistic approach to yoga has evolved from a lifelong immersion in the diverse traditions of both north and south India. His teachers include Krishnamacharya and Swami Vishnudevananda as well as unknown but equally accomplished Himalayan masters. He draws on his experience of studying within eighty six schools of hatha yoga and meditation since the age 12, approaching it always as an applied science to completely free the mind and body

Dr Kumar’s teaching emphasises the importance of maintaining the pure traditions of Yoga in their original form and applying them in a balanced, holistic and authentic way. The depth and breadth of his knowledge offers a unique opportunity for those who wish to develop their understanding of yoga at an advanced level.

Dr Kumar has taught thousands of people in India as a public service, focusing on public health and yoga awareness workshops that address the growing levels of lifestyle related diseases. For this voluntary service he has been awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award. He runs yoga teacher training programs in India and broadcasts a yoga program on the Indian television channel ‘Sakshi’. In the UK he has been teaching yoga courses and meditation retreats since 2008 and has recently led International Yoga Day events at the United Nations in Geneva. Dr Kumar’s knowledge derives not only from his scientific background, but also from his personal experience of repairing and rehabilitating his own body through yoga, following a serious accident. His mastery of meditation, honouring the lineage of Patanjali is central to his teaching. He has studied meditation in Hindu, Yoga, Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist schools including monastic traditions in Thailand, Burma and Sri Lanka. He reads Sanskrit and Pali and has sourced and translated rare texts, exploring in particular the relationship between Yoga, Buddhism and Vedanta.
