Summer Meditation Retreat with Dr. Kumar 2020

 Dr. Kumar expertly shares the transformative teachings of Yoga through ten days of guided meditation. Drawing on thousands of years of profound teaching he opens hearts and minds to experience peace, compassion and connectedness.

Whether you are new to meditation or an experienced practitioner, this course will take you through the advanced stages of practice as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. The course structure is based on progressive practice and is dynamic and responsive to the student group.

In the Yoga tradition, the absorption of pure knowledge from a teacher who embodies and lives the values of yoga, is vital for an aspirant’s development. Dr. Kumar draws on his own vast experiential and theoretical knowledge of yoga to guide us through every step of the technique.

Noble Silence

For the duration of the course all students maintain ‘noble silence’. The aim of this is to allow focus and awareness to stay within, rather than in the outside world. The silence allows us to sink into a deeply peaceful state of mind and most people find that being in silence comes vary naturally once the meditation begins. To support you through this process there is a retreat mentor available throughout the 10 days should you need to talk. The mentor offers regular opportunities to discuss how your meditation practice is going and answer any questions. The supportive environment and constant reassuring presence of Dr. Kumar helps you to comfortably settle into the silence and enjoy the peace it brings.

Experience Levels

Course participants range from beginners taking their first retreat, to experienced meditators who have done many retreats with Dr. Kumar. The course size is approximately 60 people. We recommend  attending a Traditional Yoga weekend course prior to the retreat.

The retreat will take place within the  beautiful 250-acre campus situated amongst the Malvern Hills.  

Easy to reach by road and very close to Great  Malvern train station.

Accommodation Cost: £850

The course fees covers 11 nights. Single accommodation all en-suite.

Suggested Minimum Donation: £600

The retreat is guided by Dr. Kumar as  ‘seva’, (selfless service) and supported by a team of dedicated volunteers. All our courses are run on the principles of  ‘seva’and ‘dana’, (generosity). The course fee covers accommodation costs while donations are gratefully received and relied on by the The Yoga Healing Foundation in order to continue to offer Traditional Yoga courses, support our charitable work and subsidise bursary places.


It is possible to book one extra night before the retreat, but not after the retreat.

Bursary Places

There are full and half bursaries available for those that would like financial assistance to attend the retreat for the first time. Bursary recipients are still requested to make a donation. Accommodation is offered in a twin en-suite room. If you wish to apply for a bursary, please contact requesting a retreat bursary application form. The deadline for submissions is 8th April and a decision will be made by the 22nd April 2020.
