Hamburg Awareness Meditation Weekend Course, April 2018

Learn how to observe the natural breath in order to experience inner peace and change the habit patterns of the mind.
Meditating on the natural breath has the power to bring balance and harmony to the mind.
This technique, referred to by Patanjali as Prana Samyama is central to Yoga and Buddhist systems.
The teaching is supported by audio recordings by Dr. Kumar.
A home practice recording is available to all students who complete the course.
Suitable for beginners and as a refresher for those who have already learned

This course is taught in English by two teachers fluent in German.
9.30am to 4.30pm with morning and afternoon breaks.

The course involves a sequential series of meditation sessions that introduce the technique. Between each session there will be an opportunity to ask questions, have a short break and stretch. We will have a morning and afternoon tea break, serving herbal tea and an hour lunch break. There will be a ‘yoga nidra’ relaxation session after lunch. Theory will be covered through introductory talks and group discussions about the meditation practice will take place throughout the weekend.
The course teaches the progressive steps of the technique that can be continued as a daily practice or used as a basis for working with the mind more deeply on a residential course.
What to Bring
- A meditation cushion if you have one. Otherwise, two ordinary cushions or pillows. Alternatively, specially designed Meditation cushions can be ordered in advance though our website, please click here.
- Chairs will be available for those who wish to use them.
- A Yoga mat or rug or blanket to lie down on for the ‘Yoga nidra’ relaxation session.
- A blanket to cover yourself during the Yoga nidra session, as the body temperature tends to cool down.
- Optional eye pillow if you have one.
- A bottle of water.
- Please bring a packed lunch.
Course led by Mary Lindsay-White and Beatrice Blot
Mary Lindsay-White has practiced meditation for over 20 years. She has studied with Dr Kumar since 2008 and has experienced profound changes, becoming much more effective in everyday life with greater vitality, concentration and creativity together with a sense of deep peace and contentment. Mary, who has been teaching since 2011, enjoys sharing the benefits of meditation and loves to keep in touch with students and hear how their regular meditation practice is bringing tangible changes. She lives in Bayswater, London and Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire and teaches meditation in both locations as well as at weekend courses throughout the UK including London, North Wales, Cookham and Liverpool. She is a volunteer for The Yoga Healing Foundation.During her 25 years in International Banking and ten years as a trustee for a micro-lending charity, Mary travelled extensively and has worked with people all over the World. She lived in Germany for several years and is fluent in German. Mary is a qualified personal development coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation.
Beatrice is a yoga teacher with 12 years of teaching experience and over 25 years of yoga practice, based in Cookham. Beatrice has trained with a wide range of teachers and completed an advanced teacher training course with Dr Kumar in 2012. Since then she has established a strong meditation practice and regularly attends retreats.
We have a limited number of bursaries available to cover the course fee for those who are unable to afford this amount. If you would like to apply for a bursary, please contact us for an application form for review by our committee. We encourage bursary students to still make an appropriate donation.

Dana, translated as ‘giving’ is the virtue of unconditional generosity and unattached giving through donation to a good cause. Seva, translated as selfless service is an equally important principle in the yoga tradition, based on the value of working for others without expectation of personal reward. The teaching of yoga has for thousands of years been offered on this basis, to allow students the opportunity to cultivate dana, and teachers the opportunity to cultivate seva. Traditional Yoga is committed to following these principles. All our weekend course teachers are volunteers which allows us to run the weekends on a donation basis. Donations are used to sustain the charity, offer bursary places for UK students and support our charitable projects in India. For more information about the charity please click here. In addition to the suggested minimum donation we charge a nominal course fee to cover the costs of running the course.
How to Book
We divide payments into a compulsory Course Fee and a voluntary Suggested Minimum Donation, this is a two step process.
The Course Fee covers the basic costs of running the courses. All Traditional Yoga teachers are volunteers. The Donation recognises the value of the teaching and supports our charitable work in the UK and India. For more information about the charity please click here.
We ask you to please pay by bank transfer. Please email email@example.com and we will give you the charities bank account details. Once payment is made we can confirm your place on the course.
Course Fee: €45 (£40) for both days.
Suggested Minimum Donation: €55 (£50)
Please note that confirmation is made manually during office hours. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 9am-5pm and Wednesdays 1pm-5pm.
